John Archibald Rowland ("Arch" or "John Arch") was born on 5 September 1858 in Rutherford County; he died on 21 January 1931.84 Archie married Emily Almedia Carter on 5 September 1883 in Rutherford County; Emily was born in March 1865 and died sometime around 1904; she was the daughter of John W. Carter and possibly his second wife, Mary "Polly".
Archie's second marriage was to Margaret Sue "Maggie" Hall on 3 November 1906 in Rutherford County. Maggie was born on 25 December 1872 and died on 29 January 1931, one week after her husband; she was the daughter of W.J. Hall and his wife, Elizabeth. Maggie and Arch had no children of their own. In Maggie's will, she left 9 acres of land to her brothers and 5 quilts to her husband.
