James K. Polk Branham and Amanda McWhorter
The majority of our information on James K.P. Branham comes from "Early Times" at this point, but we are actively researching Clinton County records and will update this page with new information as it becomes available. (There are unfortunately a number of errors in “Early Times,” along with much good information.)
In the 1860 census, James K.P. Branham was enumerated along with his parents, Barnabas Branham and Lavina Davos, in Clinton County. We have not yet found the family in 1870. In the 1873 ex parte division of his grandfather's estate, James received two parcels of land in Clinton County--one, a 6-acre tract on the road from Caney Gap to Albany, and the second, a 29-acre mountain tract.

In 1900, a James Branham (b. KY) is enumerated in Gibson County, TN, with wife Mandy; the naming patterns for their children include many of the names in the Branham family but we do not know what their connection is at this point.
