Louisa J. Rowland and William Harvey Haynes
N. Louisa J. Rowland was the eldest child of Littleberry Rowland and his wife, Jane Brown Rowland. She was born in February 1835, probably in Rutherford County, and died of tuberculosis in the Rockvale community in Rutherford County on 11 December 1911. Louisa married William Harvey Haynes on 15 February 1864 in Rutherford, TN. Harvey, as he was generally known, was born in January 1845 and died on 29 July 1927; he was the son of Nathaniel Haynes and Minerva Beesley, who had married on 18 November 1838 in Rutherford County. After Louisa died, Harvey married again, this time to Susannah Rowland, the daughter of William Rowland and Elizabeth Brown.
Louisa and Harvey apparently lived in Rutherford County their entire lives. They were enumerated in both the 1870 and 1880 censuses in Rutherford County, along with five of their six children: In 1900, Louisa told census enumerators that she had borne six children, but that only three were still alive at that time; by 1910, she said that only one child still survived (Bettie). Rutherford County land and court records tell us which children these were: in 1903, Harvey and Louisa deeded land to Mrs. Emma A. Haynes, Mrs. Texanna Elizabeth Leathers, and Mrs. L.B. Wood. Texanna, or "Bettie" as she was generally known, served as administrator for her father's estate in 1827.
