Will of Lent Brown
Will of Lent Brown [abstract]: I direct that my funeral expenses and all my just debts be paid; give and bequeath to my wife Nancy my plantation with the farming utensils and every thing in any way belonging to it with all the stock of every discription, household and kitchen furniture; also give my wife during her lifetime Tom and Liza slaves for life or should there be a surplus of stock more than my wife should think was necessary the executors will then take it sell it and my wife shall have the proceeds; give and bequeath to Mary Dunn which was once Mary Brown and Sarah Smith which was once Sarah Brown and Elizabeth Rowland which was once Elizabeth Brown, to them and their bodily heirs an equal portion of my estate after the death of my wife; give and bequeath to William R. Brown and Pleasant W. Brown and Henry F. Brown and Jane Rowland which was once Jane Brown & Matilda Winsett which was once Matilda Brown a& Martha Crawford which was once Martha Brown and also Ann Rowland which was once Ann Brown and James A. Brown to each an equal portion of my estate after my wifes death; after my wifes death every thing shall be sold to the highest bidder that in any way pertains to my estate whatever, including lands negroes stock of all discriptions household and kitchen furniture and the money collected will then be divided as before stated amongst the legatees; do hereby nominate and appoint William R. Brown and Pleasant W. Brown my executors; signed this 9th day of October 1851, Lent Brown; witnesses Silas Winsett, John P.
