Naulty Family

We have only sketchy information about Letitia Naulty and her possible siblings. And we know nothing (as yet) about her parents. Her tombstone identifies her place of birth as the town of Nobber in County Meath, Ireland.

According to records at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, an Anna Naulty was the baptismal sponsor for Letitia and Peter’s youngest daughter, Catherine. Immigrants often chose family members as the sponsors for their children in the new homeland, so it is reasonable to conclude that Anna and Letitia may well have been sisters.

That said, we know nothing more about Anna at this point, not even whether she was married. In a number of instances, the baptismal and marriage registers at St. Gabriel’s list female sponsors with their maiden -- not married -- names, even when we know from other records that these women were indeed married.
